BE ACTIVE
Savor the views along the Newport Cli昀昀 Walk
Spend some time walking along the eastern shore of
Newport on this National Recreation Trail, with stunning
panoramic views of the ocean on one side, and Gilded Age
mansions on the other. You can walk a short segment or
the entire 3.5 miles. There are many entrances, but a great
place to begin is at the western end of Easton’s Beach.

Visit Roger Williams Park Zoo
Located amid 40 acres of beautiful woodlands, the RWP
Zoo is home to more than 160 species of animals including
a Komodo dragon, red pandas, African elephants, snow
leopards, polar bears, penguins, and more! For something
slightly out of the ordinary, take an exhilarating zip ride
or a train excursion through the park.

Discover Waterplace Park
This four-acre park and scenic riverwalk in Providence’s
downtown area features many local attractions and events
such as Water昀椀re, outdoor music festivals, kayak tours,
and river cruises.

Walk/bike the William C. O’Neill Bike Path
This popular, 7.8 mile, scenic, paved bike path is also called
the South County Bike Trail (rail trail). It runs from Amtrak’s
Kingston Station parking lot to Narragansett (about a mile
from Narragansett Pier).

Experience beautiful Block Island
This scenic island about 12 miles o昀昀 our coast is a popular
day trip or overnight destination. Enjoy biking, hiking,
boating, swimming, sampling local seafood, and scenic
views. While there is a small airport, most visitors take the
ferry from Point Judith or Newport.

Don’t miss Beavertail Lighthouse and Park
On your drive to Newport, make a pit stop in Jamestown to
see Beavertail Lighthouse and Park. It’s the perfect place
to take in breathtaking views of the ocean, explore
Rhode Island’s 昀椀rst lighthouse, and have a picnic lunch.
