eight-screen cinema, and a 昀椀tness center.

A picture-perfect village in the town of North Kingstown,
Wickford is a 15-minute drive from campus and features
one of the largest collections of 18th century homes in the
Northeast. Walk along the harbor, through the charming
neighborhood, and visit the many eclectic shops, galleries,
and restaurants.

Take a stroll along Newport’s 1.5-mile historic thoroughfare
where you’ll 昀椀nd museums, galleries, unique local shops,
picturesque marinas, incredible food, and lively nightlife.
If you can, schedule some time to explore Ocean Drive by
car, too. This 10-mile route is 昀椀lled with breathtaking coastal
views and historic landmarks.

This student hotspot on Providence’s East Side is home
to the Brown University Bookstore, an arthouse movie
theater (The Avon), and numerous shops, co昀昀ee houses,
and diverse restaurants. It’s also a short walk to Wickenden
Street in the Fox Point neighborhood and nearby India
Point Park, the Providence Pedestrian Bridge, an impressive
sun昀氀ower 昀椀eld art installation, and Plant City, a popular
vegan restaurant.

Explore Slater Mill
One of the oldest indigenous museums in the country,
Tomaquag showcases the history, culture, and arts of
native peoples in New England, including the Narragansett,

future home on the URI campus is under construction,
visitors can explore virtual and in-person events at

Slater Mill, located along the Blackstone River in Pawtucket,
was the 昀椀rst water-powered cotton mill in the US, ushering
in the American Industrial Revolution. Today, you can tour
the Slater Mill and museum, as well as the Wilkinson Mill.
