Del’s Lemonade
Del’s is our classic frozen summer drink. There are many
昀氀avors to choose from, like watermelon, blueberry, and grapefruit —
but lemon is the real OG. “Stop at the Sign of the Lemon’’
on 49 Old Tower Hill Road in Wake昀椀eld.
Seafood
Of course seafood reigns supreme in the Ocean State! Notable
specialities are: Rhode Island chowder (thin, clear broth instead of creamy
broth), calamari (breaded, fried squid), and clam cakes. Sample these
and more at Aunt Carrie’s Restaurant, 1239 Ocean Road, Narragansett.
Awful Awful
Newport Creamery began in 1928 as a wholesale dairy and now serves
ice cream and diner food. Its signature drink, the Awful Awful, is a shake
made with syrup and ice milk — “awful big, and awful good!” Experience
it yourself at Newport Creamery, 7679 Post Road, North Kingstown.
Pizza Strips
Who knew that pizza dough topped with only a thick layer of seasoned
red sauce could be so good? This unique local favorite is eaten cold and
makes the perfect picnic (or anytime) snack! Grab one at Colvitto’s Pizza
& Bakery, 91 Point Judith Road, Narragansett.
Coffee Milk
You may have heard of strawberry milk or chocolate milk, but in the
Ocean State, we add co昀昀ee syrup to our milk — and it’s delicious!
Stop in and sample our o昀케cial state drink at Belmont Market,
600 Kingstown Road, Wake昀椀eld.
Allie’s Donut Cake
There’s nothing we love more than celebrating special occasions with a
local staple: Allie’s Donut Cake! Serving all types of homemade donuts
since 1968, Allie’s Donuts is a hidden gem that you’ll 昀椀nd at 3661 Quaker
Lane, North Kingstown.
