RHODY PRIDE
RI
Rhody Pride is how we represent and celebrate our community, diversity, and 150-year
collegiate history. It’s one of the ways we think bigger than ourselves. Try some of the activities
below, and you’ll start to learn what it means to be part of our Ramily.
RHODY THE RAM
Outside of the Higgins Welcome Center, you’ll see a majestic
sculpture of our mascot, Rhody the Ram, looking out over
Upper College Road. Take part in a favorite tradition —
snap a photo with Rhody and rub his horns for good luck!
ALUMNI FAMILY WEEKEND
This fun-昀椀lled event in October is URI’s homecoming and family
weekend, when alumni, students, families, and friends gather
to enjoy the beauty of campus in the fall and show their Rhody
pride. Cheer at the homecoming game and participate in a host
of exciting events around campus.
OOZEBALL
Each year, on a Sunday in April, the Plains Road Lot is plowed by
local farmers and drenched by the Kingston Fire Department for
Oozeball — our traditional mud volleyball tournament. Watch for
free or join the hundreds of teams and thousands of students
and alumni who set, spike, slip, and slide their way to victory.
COMMENCEMENT
The ultimate celebration — each year in May we recognize the
tremendous accomplishments of our undergraduates and
graduate students, families, faculty, and sta昀昀. “Last year’s class
represented 43 states, 32 countries, and included 47 military
veterans, 14 sets of twins, and one mother-son pair who
proudly walked across our stage!”
